I am the owner and lead therapist at Star City Therapy Services, where I offer compassionate, individualized care for individuals, couples, and families. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), I bring a wide range of experience to my practice. I specialize in trauma counseling, couples therapy, and play therapy, using a combination of evidence-based approaches tailored to meet each client’s unique needs.
I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a powerful treatment modality that helps individuals process trauma and work through emotional blockages. I firmly believe that everyone has the ability to achieve their goals, and I’m committed to equipping my clients with the right tools and strategies to facilitate healing and growth.
I graduated from Roanoke College with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Human Development. I went on to earn my first Master’s degree in Human Services in 2013 and my second Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2015. I hold a Virginia License in Marriage and Family Therapy, and I’m deeply committed to staying current with the latest therapeutic techniques to best serve my clients.
As the owner of Star City Therapy Services, I personally supervise each resident therapist on my team to ensure that every client receives the same high level of care I would provide directly. While I currently have a waitlist, I am happy to add you and connect you with one of my skilled residents if you’d like to get started right away. We are actively accepting new clients, and I would be honored to support you in your journey toward healing and growth.
If you're interested in working together, feel free to reach out—I look forward to helping you take the next step.

“In 2016, I received my Masters of Social Work from Radford University after first completing my Bachelors in Social Work and Liberal Studies from Longwood University in 2014. Both educational experiences provided me a variety of opportunities to learn in the mental health field. My passion is to work with individuals who have experienced trauma providing them with the tools to be successful. I have helped children in foster care ages 2-18 work through depression, anxiety, and PTSD. A key to success is to first build strong trusting relationships with my clients. I look forward to continuing my passion with Star City Therapy Services in helping children, adolescent, and adults.”

I work with teens and adults who are seeking insight into the blind spots that keep them feeling stuck in unproductive patterns. I am passionate about helping individuals recognize and shift unhealthy cycles that impact relationships, interfere with personal goals, or create a sense of overwhelm, especially for those navigating ADHD, anxiety, and trauma.
My focus is on helping clients build stability, self-understanding, and resilience as they move through the ever-changing landscape of their lives.
My approach is collaborative, relational, and evidence-based. I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic modalities to explore how present-day emotional distress and coping strategies may be connected to earlier experiences. A core part of my work is helping clients restore a sense of autonomy when mental health challenges feel like they have taken over. I am dedicated to empowering clients to reclaim control, strengthen resilience, and move forward with clarity and confidence. I strive to see the whole person, not only the concerns that bring them to therapy.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I am able to incorporate Christian integration into therapy upon request. I offer fully virtual services, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
If you are ready to begin your healing journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

My name is Tina Malpass. I have an undergraduate degree in Christian Ministries from Emmanuel College and a master's degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. I am currently pursing my LPC under the supervision of Holly McCloud and come with over 13 years of school counseling experience at both elementary and high. I also proudly have over 10 years of athletic coaching experience at the secondary and collegiate levels. As both a school counselor and coach, the most rewarding part of my job was helping others feel safe and validated as they worked through life's highs and lows.
I firmly believe that most people have the ability within themselves to heal, but just need a safe place to talk through their thoughts and experiences with someone unbiased and trusted. My counseling approach is person-centered, providing space and opportunity for individuals to explore experiences, thoughts and paths to move forward. I come with experience and knowledge working specifically with children and teen survivors of trauma, crisis counseling, performance anxiety/wellness and adults exploring adverse childhood experiences that may have negatively impacted trust and self-reflection. I am thrilled to begin this journey into private practice work at Star City Therapy!

Christine Lewis, Resident in Counseling, CAADC, CSAC, is a mental health professional who has been working in the field for over two decades. Initially planning to become a guidance counselor in the school setting, with a provisional license as a Pre-K –12 school counselor, her career path took a different direction.
Taking the unexpected path has allowed greater growth and more fulfilling opportunities and Christine has never looked back.
With a strong background in family therapy, Christine has served as a counselor in the community working with at risk youth and families, with children and adolescents in foster care or in the juvenile justice system, a substance abuse counselor, a group therapist in inpatient and outpatient settings and in private practice working one on one with individuals. This varied experience with different populations has afforded her a solid knowledge in many different therapeutic orientations, including family systems, solution focused, motivational interviewing, person centered, CBT, MST, DBT and
behavior therapy.
Christine prefers to match therapy to the best fit for her clients to provide a
supportive and collaborative relationship, while creating a successful outcome. Focusing on healthy coping skills, effective communication, emotional regulation and increasing empowerment in relationships, Christine is able to offer guidance and solutions to help design a more harmonious,
healthier way of living. Through compassion and a deep understanding that everyone is human and needs to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance, especially when life becomes difficult and hard to
manage, she will give you a safe space to grow and heal.

I admit, I don't know if there really words to express how grateful I am to be here and have the opportunity to work in this field as a supervisee (resident) therapist. So instead, I'll just do my best to introduce myself and assure that I put my heart, soul, and passion into my craft, offering telehealth only virtual therapy across Virginia. Additionally, I have every intention to continue growing and learning as a mental health professional. I also have a life-long goal of becoming a professional student. And I learn something new from any and every individual I come across in practice.
Educationally, I completed my undergrad at Florida Atlantic University (I'm a Florida-born, Virginia transplant as of January 2013). I'm proud to also be an alumnus of Walden University where I received my Master of Social Work degree. I am under the clinical supervision of Sharon Toliver-Hardy, LCSW, CSAC.
I specialize in substance abuse and am certified as a substance abuse counselor. Working with those in recovery from substance abuse disorders is honestly my first passion that inspired me to become a mental health professional.
I will also add that before I became a therapist, I studied Reiki (a Japanese-originated curriculum of energy healing) and became a Master Practitioner through my instructor with Honey B Reiki. As deemed appropriate, I am happy to blend the two realms in therapeutic sessions, with informed consent.
As a whole, I really enjoy talking with to people, hearing their story and needs, and assisting anyone in remembering/identifying his or her own natural strengths that may have been forgotten. I am open to working with all ages, nationalities, spiritualities (or those not identifying with a spirituality), cultural backgrounds, couples, or families. I promise my aim is to meet anyone with a trauma-informed, judgement-free, grounded, empathetic and holistic approach. I also aim to show humility, because any individual working with me is the professional of their own self and needs. My wish is to be present to assist an individual in finding their best self through mental health treatment. I utilize evidence-based practices including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Systems perspective, and seeking safety as a fully virtual therapist with Star City Therapists. I can't wait to talk with you!

sensitive counseling approaches to all individuals. I work from a holistic, person-centered approach and provide a safe, supportive, empathic and nonjudgmental environment for self-discovery.
Working with diverse clients in different settings has helped me understand what is important to people and the betterment of our community as a whole.
